- Categories : Advice

TikTok has experienced meteoric success in recent years, to the point where this platform has now become THE platform with the highest average engagement rate, surpassing major social networks like Facebook or Instagram. This platform therefore offers a unique opportunity for musicians, bands or labels to make themselves known and noticed by a more diverse audience!

In this article, we've decided to list several reasons why you, as a musician, label or music group, should be present on TikTok to showcase your musical project!

1. A significant audience

TikTok is experiencing very rapid growth and currently has over 1.2 billion monthly active users worldwide, including almost 15 million in France. It's a very popular platform, especially among younger generations.

Indeed, TikTok's audience is particularly young, with a majority of users under 30 years old. It's the ideal platform to gain recognition among Generation Z, both nationally and internationally. Therefore, there is a large potential audience on this platform!

2. A diversity of content

TikTok offers a variety of content formats. The short and catchy format of TikTok videos allows musicians, bands and labels to create content that is easily shareable and can quickly go viral.

From short videos to live streams, you have a multitude of possibilities to create attractive, original and creative content (musician tips, guitar riffs, excerpt from a music video or a shoot...). It's up to you to use excerpts from your tracks to create original and engaging videos! Note: make sure your digital distributor includes TikTok in their services!

Even the famous rock band Pink Floyd is now on TikTok and regularly shares key moments from its history through videos (see visual). The band currently has almost 950,000 followers, who have access to their entire catalogue!

3. Increased visibility

TikTok is a viral platform! Every day, thousands of videos are shared. TikTok users therefore have the opportunity to discover, very easily, new tracks, groups, labels or artists thanks to musical trends, challenges (such as dance or singing, for example), the algorithm and of course, thanks to hashtags, which should be chosen relevantly!

Put yourself in the shoes of your target audience: what will they be looking for on the platform? Which hashtags will they use to see videos that interest them? The more relevant hashtags you use, the more your video will be favoured by the platform's algorithm.

4. Direct interaction with your audience

Just like other platforms such as Facebook or Instagram, TikTok allows you to interact directly with your audience through comments or private messages, for example. This allows you to create a connection with your audience and exchange ideas about topics that interest you both.

It's up to you to maintain this 'connection' by responding to comments or private messages when people show interest in your musical project!

5. A possibility to advertise

Like many platforms, TikTok allows you to set up marketing campaigns using targeted advertising. As an artist, band or label, you'll have the opportunity to set up advertising campaigns to promote your music to a relevant and qualified audience!

These campaigns will allow you to target specific audiences based on their interests, geographical location, age or other criteria. They can be promoted at specific times of the day to reach the target audience you want to engage.

To sum up, TikTok is a viral, growing platform that can allow you to reach a multitude of potential fans. So don't hesitate to use this platform to showcase your music. It's your turn to play!
