Stage dressing is the thing that looks awesome when you play live, which will give you more presence and will allow lost spectators to know and remember your band's name by seeing the photos they've taken. Because we mustn't forget that it's not just your fans who will come to see you in concert, there are also those who come out of curiosity, to pass the time or because they were having a beer in the bar where you're going to play. So if you don't have stage dressing with your band's name, there's little chance these people will know who's playing.
How to adapt your stage gear to the venue where you're going to play?
At Distrolution Merch, you have a choice of different products that aim to boost your visibility. Some are more suitable when you're going to play at festivals or on big stages, others are those you won't be able to do without, no matter where you play.
You want to have a strong image on stage, but you're afraid of doing too much or not enough? Follow our advice and you'll have visibility that's just right.
The customised bass drum head: a must-have
Let's start by talking about a must-have, the gear you MUST have: the customised bass drum head. It's really the minimum for people watching you to easily identify you whether in a venue or at a festival. For this, we offer you the sticker to stick on your existing head or even a customised head ready to mount.
The sticker is the economical solution if you have a limited budget. We have specially selected an easy-to-apply vinyl adhesive for you, with a matte or glossy lamination for optimal durability.
If you're looking for a turnkey and interchangeable solution, the ready-to-mount bass drum head is made for you. Choose its size, from 20" to 26", its colour, the diameter and placement of the vent and we'll prepare your custom product!
Our pro tips: choose a 5" vent, this way you'll be able to place any microphone in front of and inside your bass drum, and whether it's for the sticker or the ready-to-mount head, opt for the matte finish which will avoid reflections on your visual.
With these items, you're taking a first step to display your name on stage, and pimping your drum kit is pretty cool after all! For other products, it all depends on the size of the stage you're performing on.
Do you mainly play in bars?
Do you mainly play in concert bars and wonder what gear is most suitable? Taking into account that there's not always a lot of space, that the ceiling is low and that it's sometimes in a basement, we have solutions for you. Don't panic, we'll explain!
Besides the essential bass drum head, you can equip yourself with a small backdrop, you know, the flag you find on the back of the stage behind the bands.
You too must have been invited by a friend to a concert in a bar where you don't know any of the bands. You make a nice discovery, you see the band's name on the backdrop and you follow them right after the concert.
We therefore recommend choosing one suitable for low heights: between 2m x 1m and 4m x 2m. For your information, our backdrops are printed in full colour on ultra-resistant and crease-resistant textile fabric. Say goodbye to the ugly fold marks typical of PVC tarpaulins! So you can go wild on your visuals without feeling limited to the traditional white logo on a black background! Our stage backdrops are of course compliant with M1 and B1 standards, which are the fire safety standards required by venues. We know all too well the problem of backdrops on unsuitable supports that end up staying at the bottom of the van.
The backdrop is a good solution as it takes up little space to transport and immediately reminds the audience who is playing.
Or especially in concert halls?
Your band is starting to gain popularity, and now comes the issue of big stages. We want to bring the heat, without coming across as posers. What to do?
It all depends on your band: do you need to create an atmosphere? Is your band's aesthetic really important?
If the answer is "yes!", you can order amp covers that are super quick to set up on stage to establish your image. And since we're musicians at Distrolution Merch, we've thought of everything: they're made of textile fabric that allows the sound of your amps to pass through! And don't skimp on a good big backdrop. We advise you to choose a size between 4m x 3m and 7m x 5m.
The important thing is that you remain consistent and don't clutter the stage too much. We can easily imagine Heilung or Ghost playing in a large venue with amp covers, a big backdrop and other decorative elements. It's a whole atmosphere that's being set up.
And sometimes even at festivals?
This is where you need to bring your A-game! Big stage, lots of space, numerous audience sometimes far from the stage. This is especially the place where there will be the largest number of people who don't know you and this is when they need to be able to identify you wherever they are and at any moment of the show.
Bring out your mega backdrop, your amp covers, your bass drum head and impose your style on stage! We recommend a backdrop between 6m x 4m and 10m x 7m and amp covers of 2m x 2m. For your information, our backdrops come with Spannfix attachments that allow for ultra-fast hanging. The techs will love you!
Don't forget your customised bass drum head, it's always a big thrill to see it displayed on the big screen!
The little extra at Distrolution Merch: we offer you a great Stage pack that contains a backdrop, a bass drum head and one or two amp cover(s) of your chosen dimensions! The advantage is that by ordering a pack, it will cost you less than taking everything individually. So take advantage of it to treat yourself and tear it up on stage!
